No Refuge, Access Denied

Below is a recent video posted on Doctors Without Borders site examining the struggle of Zimbabweans in South Africa.  Thousands of Zimbabweans continue to seek refuge from the turmoil in their native country by fleeing to South Africa.  “Upon arrival, many Zimbabweans endure further suffering in South Africa, without access to proper health care, shelter or safety. During their journey to and within South Africa, they are subjected to violence, physical and verbal abuse, police harassment, inhumane living conditions and xenophobic attacks.”  At one MSF site, more than half of those treated in April “had survived gang rape and 70 percent had been raped under threat of a gun, knife, or other weapon.”  To read more about the horrific obstacles the Zimbabweans are facing check out this MSF article.
