46664 (Nelson Mandela’s prison number) is an NGO raising awareness about the HIV/AIDS pandemic and “the underlying issues that influence it, such as poverty, lack of education, gender inequality, lack of access to health facilities and the denial of economic opportunities.” 46664 uses outreach campaigns through music, sports, and entertainment “to educate, engage and empower those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.” 

46664 and the Nelson Mandela Foundation have collaborated to establish Mandela Day to honor all of Mandela’s work and create a lasting legacy.

Mandela Day will be held on July 18, Mr. Mandela’s birthday. “The hope is that Mandela Day will serve as a global call to action for people to realize that their individual power to make a difference, to make an imprint.”
